"One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words." Goethe

Jazz

One thing I love about living in the Kansas City area is that there are plenty of small, unknown musical groups playing in small out of the way places that you can just step in to hear.  (It's perfect if you want to "hear a little song.")  Friday night, I found out about a jazz trio playing in a coffee shop in a strip mall in Leawood--tenor saxophonist Steve Lambert's trio. I'm not a jazz aficionado, but I thought they sounded great.  On the way there, we stopped for dinner at Oklahoma Joe's BBQ in honor of Matthew's 25th birthday.  We'll have to take him there when he gets home because it has shot to the top of our Best BBQ in KC list.  (It is our job to find the best BBQ in KC while we are here.)  As it turns out, it is one of the 13 places you should eat at before you die according to an article in Men's Health that was hanging on the wall.  And this was no little league list, it had restaurants in Tokyo, London, NYC, Spain--and there was Oklahoma Joe's at #13.
